To successfully promote competition and deliver change, we need our Flexibility Services Delivery Manager to drive and facilitate the delivery of major balancing servcies transformations, to make sure that the right tools and platforms are in place, and that all market participants feel that they have the support and information they need to compete on an equal footing. Opening markets will spur innovation and drive competition, translating into lower bills for consumers and facilitating the transition to net-zero operation.

 

You will be managing a small team withing Market Change Delivery (MCD), working to transform the electricity ancilliary services markets and flexibility programmes, ensuring that the future benefitis to the NGESO, stakeholders and end consumers are realised. We work in partnership with other teams across the business to lead the end to end ancillary services change process to enable the NGESO ambitions of zero carbon operation and competition everywhere.

 

We are looking for an all-rounder who can think strategically and commercially, deliver change programmes and engage with internal and external stakeholders to make our Competition Everywhere plan happen. Acting as the Senior Responsible Owner for significant ancillary services development projects, you will be clear on what is required to deliver the business plan and translate this into actionable activities for the teams across Markets. You will track and monitor progress against targets and make the strategic decisions to progress us towards the ESO ambition.

 

You will ensure we set out a strategic plan for key deliverables and challenge where appropriate the delivery plans for our projects and outputs, ensuring there is clarity in terms of the plans and alignment between the teams in Markets and other departments.

 

Engaging with external stakeholders and customers to drive consensus on key deliverables, you will also deliver the internal and external engagement where required, with support of wider ESO teams. In addition, you will build relationships with internal virtual team members, customers and impacted teams to ensure the MCD Team is driving each project with active communication and change plans for each of the major delivery areas. 

 

You will assist the MCD Senior Manager in reporting on the progress of the project both internally and externally; support ESO regulatory and incentives reporting, work with MCD senior manager to draw insight on progress and ensure they are armed with the necessary information on progress, and what are the major steps that should be hit against the delivery plans and ESO ambitions. Additionally, you will coordinate the work of the team via the appropriate project management boards and governance to drive the delivery of the work programme. You will act as line manager, responsible for the performance management, development and wellbeing of your direct reports.

 

This role can be based in Warwick or Wokingham

Responsibilities

With an understanding of GB Balancing Markets, you will have an appreciation of the energy industry and the role of ESO and the balancing servcies markets it operates. You will understand the commercial drivers behind the businesses in the electricity industry, and the fundamentals of market economics.

 

Educated to degree level (or with equivalent relevant experience), you will have excellent analytical skills and commercial acumen, as well as the ability to grasp a wide range of very complex issues. With the ability to think strategically and commercially, you will be able to synthesise complex issues and communicate them in a simple and effective way.

 

With good project management and coordination skills, you will have the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. A high level of attention to detail, and excellent stakeholder engagement skills are also key requirements.

We offer

A competitive salary between £53,500 - £63,000 – dependent on capability

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
